K-57 Virginia Fowler

This style of fowler has become very popular since the movie “The Patriot” came out and the House brothers collaborated to build a fine Virginia rifle from scratch for the Contemorary Longrifle Associaton.

This style evolved along the Eastern seacoast where gun builders had easy access to parts imported from England even throughout the war. The stock butt is a little wider than our Colonial fowler and uses an early smooth style butt plate with a rounded flat top similar to a rifle. Since there is no cheek piece or lock inlet, these guns can easily be made left handed as well. Stocks are available in a variety of woods and grades of maple. The price shown is based on plain maple and the optional grades increase in cost at $25 per grade to CM-4. Walnut and cherry are available too at $50.

Fowler Kit

The barrels are available in 36”or 42” octagon to round with 12” flats, a nice wedding band, and transition to round. Most are in 20 gauge but we also offer 28 ga.(54 cal)

The trim is available in brass or steel and uses a cast English style fowler trigger guard with the acorn finial, fowler style round banded thimbles with pointed entry tail, and the Virginia style side plate. The brass trim is $35 more.

Virginia style fowlers typically use a round faced lock so you can choose either RE Davis cast engraved English fowler lock or the L&R Queen Anne lock in left or right for your build. You may choose your kit from these parts and build it all yourself or you may choose Option #1. This will get the lock of your choice inlet for you, the butt cut to your length of pull, the barrel will be breeched and the underlugs and sight will be soldered on and the trigger located. At only $150 this is a very popular option and takes care of all the hard stuff.

You may choose option #2 and have your gun “assembled in the white”. This will get your gun completely assembled and functional.

It will arrive ready for your personal choice in wood and metal finish. Check out “Finishing A Gun In The White” under the BUILD INFO tab for details.

This option is in place of option #1 and is a real bargain at only $600 labor.
